Robin Uthappa revealed his favourites to win the IPL 2025 title after the 69th match of the season between Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. The 2014 IPL Orange Cap winner claimed that he regarded RCB and PBKS to be the favourites right from the beginning and stuck with his opinion after PBKS qualified for Qualifier 1.
Uthappa believed that PBKS and RCB have the momentum on their side and are bowling well lately. He spoke on behalf of RCB and claimed that Virat Kohli had to bat long and anchor the run chases. The former RCB batter believed that Virat staying till the end meant his great acceleration at the death overs, putting pressure on the opposition.

IPL 2025: How can RCB finish in top 2 in the league stage?
"I’ve said it from the beginning, I believe it’s going to be Punjab and RCB. They’ve got momentum on their side and have started bowling well. They need to close out games effectively, and Virat Kohli has to be the chase master we know he is, batting through the 20 overs. When he does that, it builds pressure on the opposition, especially in the death overs," said Uthappa on Jiostar.
I’m glad Josh Hazlewood is back: Robin Uthappa
He felt the RCB bowlers had to step up, and the return of Josh Hazlewood could help Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Yash Dayal. He felt Suyash Sharma had to be disciplined, unlike his spell against SRH. He claimed that Krunal has been bowling well for RCB in the IPL 2025.
"The bowlers also need to step up. I’m glad Josh Hazlewood is back, which will help Bhuvi (Bhuvneshwar Kumar) too. Yash Dayal has been decent at the death overs. Suyash faltered in the last game, but if he returns to being disciplined, like he was at the start of the IPL, he’ll be effective again. And Krunal Pandya has also been bowling well," Uthappa added.
RCB will play Lucknow Super Giants in the 70th and the last league stage match of the IPL 2025 at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. Winning it would mean them playing Qualifier 1 against Punjab Kings, while losing would mean them facing MI in the Eliminator.
