The devastating floods in Punjab have left the state suffering from one of its worst natural calamities in decades. However, the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Punjab Kings (PBKS) has stepped forward to extend support by donating INR 33.8 lakh towards relief efforts.
Punjab has been affected by torrential rains and rising water levels in rivers such as the Sutlej, Beas, and Ravi. Triggered by heavy rainfall in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir, along with upstream dam releases, the flood has claimed at least 37 lives so far.
According to official reports, more than 3.5 lakh residents have been affected, with over 1,000 villages swamped and nearly 61,000 hectares of farmland submerged. All 23 districts of the state have been declared flood-affected, making it one of the most severe floods Punjab has seen since 1988. Notably, over 11,000 people have been evacuated with the help of the Indian Army, NDRF, BSF, and local authorities.
