In preparation for the 2024 Women's Asia Cup, the ninth edition of the tournament to be hosted by Sri Lanka from July 19 to July 28, the Pakistan women's cricket team has undergone significant reorganization in terms of backend staff personnel.
Former Pakistan middle-order batter, Mohammad Wasim, who served as chief selector during Ramiz Raja's tenure as chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, has been appointed as the head coach of the women's cricket team. Wasim's coaching team will comprise former international cricketers, Junaid Khan and Abdur Rehman, appointed as assistant coach and bowling coach, respectively. Both Junaid and Rehman contribute their expertise as former Test bowlers to the coaching staff, both of them having played 22 Test matches each during their playing days.

This decision to revamp the women's team's management for the white-ball format follows a period of lacklustre performances, culminating in a particularly disappointing series against England, where Pakistan Women lost five of the six matches which were played, with the second ODI of the three-match series being washed out due to inclement weather.
In preparation for the Asia Cup, the PCB launched a four-day conditioning camp in Karachi starting on Wednesday. The camp aims to ready the players both physically and mentally for the forthcoming challenges. The selection committee is anticipated to announce the final squad for the tournament next week, post the conclusion of the camp.

The PCB's restructuring of the women's team's management and the initiation of a conditioning camp ahead of the Asia Cup are strategic measures aimed at enhancing the team's international performance. These changes underscore the board's dedication to improving the competitive stature of the women's team, particularly in response to recent setbacks, including two back-to-back white-ball defeats against West Indies Women and England Women.
Pakistan Women will be taking on India Women, Nepal Women, and United Arab Emirates Women as part of their Group A fixtures in the Asia Cup.
