The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) could pursue legal action against Zimbabwe bowler Blessing Muzarabani after he withdrew from his Islamabad United contract to play in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026 to instead sign for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Muzarabani’s decision to pull out of his binding PSL contract to join a rival league has not gone down well with the PCB, who are looking to pursue legal actions on the grounds of breach of contract.

This is the second time in as many years that an overseas player has chosen to ditch their PSL contract for a chance to play in the IPL. Last year, South Africa all-rounder Corbin Bosch was signed by the Mumbai Indians as a replacement for the injured Lizaad Williams. Prior to signing for MI, Bosch was signed by the Peshawar Zalmi as their Diamond Pick before his move over to India.

Due to his breach of contract, the South Africa international received a one-year ban from competing in the PSL. The Pakistani board, however, is looking to put a bigger punishment for Muzarabani.

It is worth mentioning that Muzarabani has previously played in the PSL for three seasons, where he has taken a total of 21 wickets. The Zimbabwean pace bowler, however, is yet to play a game in the IPL, although he has been a part of RCB's squad in their triumphant 2025 season.

The three-time champions recently signed the 29-year-old pacer as a replacement for Mustafizur Rahman, who was released from the squad on the recommendation of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

KKR will come into the tournament looking for a better season than their title defence last time around, when they finished eighth. The Kolkata-based unit will open their campaign on March 29 against the Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Their first home game, at the iconic Eden Gardens, is against the Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 02.

Muzarabani will be expected to lead KKR’s bowling unit, with question marks surrounding the availability of the injured duo of Harshit Rana and Matheesha Pathirana.
