Radha Yadav replaces injured Shuchi Upadhyay for England tour

The left-arm spinner Radha Yadav has been named as the replacement for the injured Shuchi Upadhyay in India’s squad for the upcoming tour of England, scheduled to begin on June 28. The Indian women's team is set to play five T20Is and three ODIs against the hosts.

Shuchi has been ruled out of the tour after sustaining a left shin injury, diagnosed during the pre-tour camp at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (COE) in Bengaluru. The spinner made her ODI debut earlier this year during the tri-series involving India, Sri Lanka, and South Africa. She had received her maiden T20I call-up for the England tour.

Shuchi impressed during the Senior Women’s One-Day Trophy held in December last year, where she emerged as the third-highest wicket-taker. She picked up 18 wickets at an average of 15.44 and an economy rate of 3.48, and was named the Player of the Tournament as Madhya Pradesh clinched the title.

Radha has represented India in 84 T20Is and seven ODIs so far. She last played for India in December 2024, where she picked up four wickets against the West Indies. Before that, she was the leading wicket-taker in the home ODI series against New Zealand.
