Maharashtra opener Prithvi Shaw brought up his first century of the 2025–26 Ranji Trophy season against Chandigarh on October 27 at Chandigarh. This marks a fresh chapter in his domestic career, as Shaw switched teams from Mumbai to Maharashtra for the new season.

After being dismissed for just eight runs in the first innings, Shaw made a strong comeback in the second innings, smashing a brilliant century off just 72 balls to help extend Maharashtra’s lead beyond 250 runs. His blistering ton ranks as the sixth-fastest century in Ranji Trophy history, a testament to his aggressive intent.

In Maharashtra’s opening match of the season against Kerala, Shaw had scored a duck in the first innings and 75 runs in the second. This latest hundred ended a 20-month century drought, with his previous ton coming for Mumbai in February 2024. He will be hoping this innings reignites his first-class career, following a difficult phase last season that saw him dropped by Mumbai over issues related to fitness and discipline.

Across formats, Shaw’s domestic record remains impressive. He has 4,556 runs in 58 first-class matches at an average of 46.02, including 13 centuries and 18 half-centuries, with a career-best of 379. In List A cricket, he has scored 3,399 runs at 55.72 with a strike rate of 125.74, while in T20s, he has amassed 2,902 runs at a strike rate of 151.54 and an average of 25.01. Despite his domestic numbers, Shaw went unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction.
