Abhinav Tejrana created history in the the ongoing 2025-26 Ranji Trophy clash between Goa and Chandigarh at the Goa Cricket Association Academy Ground in Porvorim. Out of the 566 runs that the hosts scored in the first innings, Tejrana contributed 205 in what was the left-handed batter's First-Class debut. A double-ton on debut is a feat not the likes of Sachin Tendulkar or Virat Kohli could attain in their career.

On the opening day, Tejrana became the third batter to score a century on First-Class debut for Goa. Tendulkar's son, Arjun, is part of the list as well, having achieved the feat in 2022, when he registered 120 against Rajasthan.

After adding 70 runs to his overnight score, Tejrana became the first batter to get to a double-ton on First-Class debut and the 13th overall in the history of India's premier domestic red-ball competition. The list includes legends such as Gundappa Viswanath and Amol Muzumdar.

The most-recent batter before Tejrana to achieve the feat was Jay Gohil. Other batters in the list include Abhishek Gupta, Ajay Rohera, Suved Parkar, Anshuman Pandey, Manprit Juneja, Jiwanjot Singh, Mayank Raghav, Arslan Khan, Sakibul Gani and Pavan Shah.

Tejrana was not the highest scorer of Goa's innings though, as former Delhi all-rounder Lalit Yadav amassed 213 off 393 in his first match for Goa. Tejrana (21 fours and four sixes) and Lalit (22 fours and four sixes) contributed to more than 70 per cent of Goa's total. No other batter could even get to a half-century.
