Afghanistan cricket captain Rashid Khan has finally put an end to days of speculation surrounding his personal life. The star leg-spinner confirmed through a heartfelt social media post that he is indeed married, clarifying that the woman seen alongside him in recent viral photos is his wife. The clarification came after images from a charity event sparked rumours that Rashid had secretly tied the knot again.

For several days, social media trended with images showing the cricketer sitting beside a woman in traditional Afghan attire during the launch of the Rashid Khan Charity Foundation in the Netherlands. Many users assumed that the pictures were from a secret wedding ceremony, leading to widespread speculation about the cricketer’s relationship status. The rumours gained traction because Rashid had earlier married in October 2024 in Kabul in a grand family event, where three of his brothers, Amir Khalil, Zakiullah, and Raza Khan, also got married on the same night. Clearing the air, Rashid took to Instagram to issue a statement confirming his second marriage and addressing the rumours.

“On August 2nd 2025, I began a new and meaningful chapter of my life, I had my nikkah done and married a woman who embodies the love, peace, and partnership I always hoped for. I recently took my wife to a charity event and it’s unfortunate to see assumptions being made from something so simple. The truth is straightforward, she is my wife and we stand together with nothing to hide. To everyone who has shown kindness, support, and understanding, thank you,” Rashid Khan posted on Instagram.

Rashid to lead Afghanistan in West Indies series

The cricketer thus confirmed that he got married for the second time earlier this year, on August 2, 2025. Notably, the viral image that triggered the speculation was actually taken at the official launch of the Rashid Khan Charity Foundation in the Netherlands. The foundation focuses on providing education, healthcare, and clean drinking water to underprivileged Afghan communities. Rashid and his wife attended the event together to promote the foundation’s initiatives. The cricketer has long been involved in humanitarian work and continues to use his global platform to aid the people of Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, Rashid remains one of the most consistent and successful cricketers in the T20 format. With 182 wickets in 108 T20Is at an average of 13.69, he is one of the leading wicket-takers. Recently, Rashid led Afghanistan in the 2025 Asia Cup, though his team narrowly missed out on a semi-final berth. The 27-year-old will next lead Afghanistan in the upcoming T20I series against the West Indies in January 2026, part of the team’s preparation for the T20 World Cup to be hosted in India and Sri Lanka.
