Following Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) legal notice to Kamran Akmal for allegedly making defamatory and objectionable statements about Pakistan Cricket, former Pakistan international Salman Butt on his YouTube channel took a jibe at the organisation by questioning whether he should stop making videos on his channel!

The former opener also reminded PCB that the platform is to share their opinions and there’s no harm in doing so - especially when one has prior experience playing professional cricket. However, under the leadership of Ramiz Raja, PCB remains strict and ask their legal team to take immediate action in case any of the former players or staff speak anything against the national team.

“Rehne de ye show? Kahi legal notice na aa jaaye! (Should we stop the show? Else we might also get legal notice). Speaking about technical aspects, giving your opinion and speaking based on your experience, especially those who have much more of it than policy-makers is fine. You cannot challenge opinions. You can convince people with your explanation, logic and reasoning,” Butt said as quoted by Hindustan Times after the Kamran Akmal saga in Pakistan Cricket.

Many former legends including Shahid Afridi and Kamran Akmal have already asked Babar Azam to leave captaincy after the T20 World Cup. The team was extremely criticised by Shoaib Akhtar after losing to India and Zimbabwe in the first two matches of the competition. Now, as per reports, these kinds of comments didn’t go well with the Pakistan board and thus, they decided to intervene and make such amendments.

We should not cross the line: Salman Butt

Salman Butt in the same video reminded how the former cricketers should not cross the line and attack anyone personally on social media. In case someone did it in the past, the 38-year-old asked them not to repeat it in the future.

“There is one more thing here. If we are talking about something, it should not personally hit anyone. We should not cross the line with regards to someone’s personality, looks and personal lives. We have not right to do that. Nor does anyone else have a right to cross the line against us. If someone has done it, people should refrain from such things,” Butt added.
