The Indian Premier League (IPL) auction is on the horizon as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is preparing to hold the event this year on December 16 as per reports.

With the auction round the corner, many franchises have begun ideating plans to bolster their squad in order to compete for the title. This year too, franchises have identified players who can add lots to the squad assuming they make a swoop in the auction.

Jordan Thompson, an uncapped all-rounder, has made headlines previously with his impressive spells in the Hundred and is touted to be on the radar of many IPL franchises for the forthcoming season. As per reports, atleast two sides of the elite Indian domestic league have contacted the 26-year-old.

Thompson finished as joint-top wicket-taker in the Hundred this summer. The combative all-rounder flourished during the Bob Willis Trophy in 2020, scoring 234 runs and taking 15 wickets in Yorkshire's five North Group outings. The player is no stranger to the domestic leagues of the shortest format and has experience during his stints with Pakistan Super League's Karachi Kings and Hobart Hurricanes in Australia's Big Bash League.

Moreover, he was also signed up by the Mumbai Indians-owned side, MI Emirates, for the new competition in the UAE- The International League T20. Undoubtedly, IPL clubs will keep an eye on the 26-year-old in order to secure his services, considering what he is capable of.

In addition to him, the IPL franchises have also shown interest in Surrey’s Will Jacks and Somerset's Will Smeed. Jacks made his T20I debut last month and has the potential into becoming one of the finest cricketers in recent times, whereas opener Smeed is known for his hard-hitting.
