If recent reports are to be believed, Mumbai Indians (MI) are set to suffer two major setbacks as two of their most illustrious cricketers - Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav could be parting ways ahead of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.
According to Dainik Jagran, Rohit and Suryakumar might be leaving the five-time champions and defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) could target them in the mega auction scheduled for next year.
Mumbai Indians went through turbulent times during this year's IPL. They roped in Hardik Pandya last year ahead of the auction from the Gujarat Titans. However, fans were left disgruntled when the Baroda all-rounder replaced hometown hero Rohit at the helm. There were reports of discord between Hardik and the likes of Rohit, Suryakumar, and Jasprit Bumrah during the tournament. Under the 30-year-old's captaincy, MI finished last on the points table, as the team couldn't play as a unit.

The MI management would have hoped to turn things around in IPL 2025 but if Rohit and Suryakumar depart, it would leave them with massive shoes to fill. However, the Mumbai fans don't need to be too worried at this point as no official information has been received on the departures.
If Rohit Sharma leaves Mumbai Indians, there is a possibility of him joining Gujarat Titans or Delhi Capitals for IPL 2025. The Titans won the league in 2022 and finished runners-up last year. However, this year, they finished ninth under Shubman Gill, in what was his first season as a captain in the IPL. Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals managed to end at No. 6 this year under Rishabh Pant's leadership.

Meanwhile, Pant could leave Delhi Capitals and potentially join Chennai Super Kings, as Delhi is reportedly not happy with Pant's performance. Also, KL Rahul might leave Lucknow Super Giants to join Virat Kohli-starrer Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) as their captain. Faf du Plessis has led RCB in the last three editions of the cash-rich league but hasn't been able to take them to their elusive first title.
