Renowned Bollywood star Salman Khan often remains in the limelight for various reasons. Ahead of the much-awaited grand IPL 2025 (Indian Premier League) clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS), a tweet that Salman had posted back in 2014 has now gone viral.
The reason? The Shreyas Iyer-led Punjab side is set to play their second IPL final in 11 years. Notably, in 2014, PBKS played against Kolkata Knight Riders but were edged out in what turned out to be a thriller, losing the game by three wickets. Salman had enquired of Punjab co-owner and actress Preity Zinta whether her side had managed to win the IPL final or not.
"Zinta's team won kya?" Salman had tweeted on his official 'X' handle.
Now, 11 years later, the IPL franchise noticed his tweet and, before the Ahmedabad encounter, came up with a cheeky reply. They cordially invited the Bollywood actor to witness the final showdown on Tuesday, June 3. Following the response, some fans eagerly expressed their views and demanded that the franchise ensure Salman attends the IPL 2025 final. Another fan suggested the tweet should be reposted once PBKS lift their maiden IPL title.
“See you in the final bhai,” Kings replied through their official social media handle.

Iyer led Kings to second IPL final with batting brilliance
Meanwhile, Punjab Kings' captain Shreyas Iyer led from the front with the bat. In what turned out to be a rain-affected match in Qualifier 2 of IPL 2025, Iyer helped his side chase down a mammoth 202-run target to beat the five-time champions, Mumbai Indians.
During the match, Iyer showed his class and stood tall till the end. He played a magnificent knock of an unbeaten 87* runs off just 42 balls. During his thrilling innings, he smashed eight sixes. Quite fascinatingly, Shreyas Iyer, seemingly immersed in his intense on-field mode, was later seen hugging Preity Zinta to celebrate the team storming into the IPL final after a long wait.
