The Kerala senior men’s cricket team, led by all-rounder Saly Samson, will tour Oman later this month for a series of T20 practice matches. According to the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA), the 16-member squad has been picked from standout performers in the recently-concluded 2025 season of the Kerala Cricket League. The team will play three T20 encounters against the Oman national side between September 22 and 25.
This will be Kerala’s second visit to Oman after being there once in 2023 as well. Earlier in April, a team captained by Mohammed Azharuddeen played a five-match one-day series against the same opponent. However, this time the squad composition is different. Kerala’s Ranji Trophy skipper Sachin Baby and India star Sanju Samson are not part of the touring contingent.
Vishnu Vinod, who has had the experience of playing in the IPL with Mumbai Indians, is also a key part of the 16-man squad. However, other Ranji regulars such as Salman Nizar, Azharuddeen, Rohan S. Kunnummal, and pacer M. D. Nidheesh have also been left out, as the majority of them are busy with the domestic season. The side will be coached by Sebastian Antony.
Skipper Saly, elder brother of star India wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson, emerged as one of the standout performers in the recent KCL season. He captained Kochi Blue Tigers to their maiden league title, producing consistent all-round displays. In the summit clash of the T20 league, he played a key role in securing a 75-run victory over Kollam Sailors.

Oman are currently competing in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025 in the UAE but have endured a difficult start. In the tournament opener against Pakistan, they suffered a heavy 93-run defeat, failing to chase a modest target of 161 runs. Oman are now up against the UAE in their second group fixture and will be desperate to secure a win to open their account in the continental event. Their final group-stage match will be against India on September 19 in Abu Dhabi.
