India played their first Women's World Cup final at home on Sunday against South Africa, who also reached the summit clash in the competition for the first time. While it was hard to spot an empty seat on Sunday, this wasn't the case when the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai hosted the final of the 2013 edition of the tournament.

Australia defeated the West Indies by 114 runs in front of an empty stadium to lift the World Cup for the sixth time. A picture comparing the crowd in the 2013 and 2025 finals has gone viral on the internet. While some might argue that the presence of the host nation in the final brings in more spectators, it must also be admitted that women's cricket has grown by leaps and bounds in recent years, and fans tune in to watch even the matches which are not as important as Sunday's title decider.
