Former Indian cricketer Deep Dasgupta seemed critical of the Zak Crawley's time-wasting tactics in the final over of Day 3 of the ongoing five-match series between England and India. He was amongst the several cricketers who commented on the final-over saga.
Dasgupta questioned the authenticity of Crawley's reaction and felt it did not reflect well on England's intent in relation to sportsmanship.
“He removed his glove and called for the physio, but the ball didn't even hit his hand. We'll definitely check the replay, but the way he reacted, it seemed like it had hit his fingers. Well, let them do what they're doing. It shows their mindset. We need this spark in the series,” shared Dasgupta while speaking on Jiohotstar's Hindi commentary.
Crawley's actions did not please Shubman Gill, who ended up confronting the batter, which resulted in a bit of a verbal spat between the two. The Indian cricket team were not impressed too. They were spotted clapping in a mocking manner in front of Crawley, who had to be separated from being in the face of the Indian skipper by the former's opening partner Ben Duckett.
What great drama and what a great day: Vaughan
Adding his views on the incident, the former English skipper Michael Vaughan jokingly remarked that it was one of the best acts of time-wasting he had ever seen.
“It's as good a piece of time-wasting I've ever seen. India can't complain because yesterday Gill was down with the hamstring strain - (KL) Rahul was off the field and wouldn't have been able to open the batting. Neither team can complain, but what great drama and what a great day. We're in for a fourth and fifth day that will be fantastic," commented Vaughan while speaking on BBC's Test Match Special.

England ended the day on 2/0 after the sole over by Jasprit Bumrah. At the time of writing, they have already lost Duckett (12 off 12) and Ollie Pope (four off 17). Both the wickets were secured by Mohammed Siraj in the opening session of Day 4.
