‘SKY is something different’ - Pakistan greats heap praise on India batter Suryakumar Yadav’s game

Rohit Sharma’s Men in Blue are currently relishing consecutive victories in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2022. India have won both their matches against Pakistan and the Netherlands thus far and will now look to keep their momentum intact against South Africa.

Suryakumar Yadav is known to be the side’s most lethal batter when it comes to the shortest format, and he backed that thought up in the match against the Dutch side as he scored a quick-fire 51* off just 25 deliveries. Pakistan pace legend Wasim Akram along with Shoaib Malik and Misbah-ul-Haq heaped plenty of praise on the explosive right-hander for his variety of shots.

Speaking on ‘A Sports’ ahead of India's third fixture against South Africa, Shoaib Malik hailed Suryakumar's hook shot.

“That shot he plays, the one he hits behind, his technique is so good that even if he doesn't get that elevation, he can execute it,” Malik said.

He can play all around the park: Misbah-ul-Haq

One of the panelists on the show, Wasim Akram backed the right-hander’s gameplan and further stated that youngsters should ‘learn’ his shots.

“SKY is something different, isn't he? These are the kind of shots youngsters should learn,” said Akram on A Sports' T20 World Cup-centred show The Pavilion.

The range of shots the batter maintains has helped him garner runs in quick time for the teams he has represented. Moreover, Malik also added that Suryakumar has a knack of not just reading conditions well but can also read the bowler's mind.

“He can play with bowler's mind as well. Conditions at Perth will be different for the South Africa game but to play these shots you need to be bold,” added Malik.

Former Pakistan batter Misbah-ul-Haq then pitched in and backed the statements made by his former teammates on the Indian batter.

“In the last two matches that I have watched, he’s been playing very well. He can play all around the park,” Misbah said.
