Pakistan will tour Sri Lanka for a three-match T20I series in the first-half of January next year. The series will serve as a preparation for both the teams ahead of commencement of the T20 World Cup 2026, which will be played in India and Sri Lanka in February-March.
The Salman Ali Agha-led unit will play the three matches on January 7, 9 and 11, with all the games schedule to be played in Dambulla. The brief tour will be the Green Shirts' first white-ball assignment in 2026. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) stated that the series will provide the team with "valuable match practice ahead of next year's global event".
The PCB has given white-ball cricket the utmost priority ever since the conclusion of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) in May earlier this year. There have been multiple T20I series which Pakistan have been a part of, including series against Bangladesh (both home and away), West Indies (away), South Africa (home) as well as two tri-nation series.
As for Sri Lanka, they recently toured Pakistan. The first assignment was a three-match ODI series, which the hosts won 3-0. They then played the tri-series involving Zimbabwe and Pakistan defeated the Lankans in the summit clash.
Other than the T20Is against Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka, Pakistan are also slated to play a three-match home series against Australia in the final week of the same month. Pakistan will play all their T20 World Cup 2026 matches in Sri Lanka. They have been placed in Group A alongside India, Namibia, Netherlands and United States of America.

All their league stage matches will be played in Colombo. Pakistan, who endured an exit in the league stage itself in the previous installment of the mega event, will aim for a better show in the tournament this time around.
