Sri Lanka have announced a 16-member ODI squad for the upcoming tour of Zimbabwe. The white-ball series, which includes a couple of ODIs and three T20Is, is scheduled to get underway on August 29.
Ace all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga has not been named in the squad. He had missed out the three-match T20Is against Bangladesh in July due to a hamstring injury. Hasaranga had starred for the island nation during the preceding ODIs against Bangladesh, putting in all-round performances in all three matches (22 & 4/10, 13 & 3/60 and 18* and 2/35).
Top-order batter Nuwanidu Fernando, who last featured in an ODI in November 2024, has returned for the Lankans. Skipper Charith Asalanka will lead the team.
All five white-ball matches (two ODIs followed by three T20Is) will be played at the Harare Sports Club. Sri Lanka's next assignment after visiting Zimbabwe will be the Asia Cup 2025 in which they are slotted in Group B along with Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Hong Kong.
Sri Lanka last toured the Chevrons for a limited-overs series in November 2008, when they whitewashed the hosts in the five-match series, with Kumar Sangakkara (182 runs in five matches), Ajantha Mendis (15 wickets in five matches) and Muttiah Muralidaran (11 wickets in four matches) starring for the touring team.
