Suryakumar Yadav, who is now quite acclimatized with wreaking havoc on the cricket field, did it once again in Rajkot during the series-deciding T20I between India and Sri Lanka. The middle-order batter owned the night by playing an unbeaten knock of 112 runs in just 51 deliveries to set the perfect tone for the home side. While Surya’s knock helped India clinch the match by a huge margin of 91 runs, he once again entered the record books while breaking a flurry of records.

Yadav has now become the fastest player to touch the landmark of 1500 runs in terms of balls faced as he reached the target in just 843 balls. However, talking in terms of the innings taken, he is the third fastest to touch the milestone of 1500 runs. The 32-year-old took 43 innings to score 1500 runs in T20Is while Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Aaron Finch, and Babar Azam took 39 innings each to touch the milestone.

It is noteworthy that the middle-order batter is the first one to reach the landmark while flaunting a strike rate of 150 or more. During the series-deciding T20I between India and Sri Lanka, Yadav smashed the second-fastest ton by an Indian in T20Is while taking just 45 balls. The fastest one is registered in name of Rohit Sharma who took 35 balls in 2017 to hit a century which also came against the same opponent.

“It's really important to put pressure on yourself when you are preparing for a game. If you do that in practice, it gets a little easier while playing the game. There is a lot of hard work involved but it's about doing quality practice sessions. You should know what your game is and prepare accordingly. Boundaries behind are like 50-60 meters, so I was targeting them. There are some shots that are pre-determined but you need to have other shots too so that if the bowler changes his plan, you can have an answer. He (Dravid) just lets me enjoy myself. He tells me to just enjoy and express myself,” said Yadav after a sensational show in the final T20I.
