Suryakumar Yadav’s dominance alongside Arshdeeps’s intelligence helped India seal the T20I series 2-1. India defeated the Asian champions in the decider by 91 runs with the help of solid batting performance from Suryakumar Yadav and bowling dominance from entire bowling unit
Batting first, Team India lost Ishan Kishan in the first over to Dilshan Madushanka, However, cameo from Tripathi made sure India were on the driver seat with score of 53 on the board in the end of powerplay. After the powerplay, came in the in-form batter, Suryakumar Yadav, who made the merry at expense of Sri Lankan bowlers by smashing his 3rd T20I century in 45 balls. He, along with Shubman Gill, put together 111 runs for third wicket. Wannindu Hasaranga broke the partnership by bowling out Shubman Gill at 46. Wickets kept falling at one end and Suryakumar Yadav kept piling on the runs at the other end. At the end Team India finished off by posting a huge total of 228/5 in 20 overs.
In response, Sri Lanka batters started off positively scoring 37 runs in first four overs and once again it was the heroics of man in-form Axar Patel who broke the partnership by taking the wicket of Kusal Mendis. From thereon, it was team India who dominated the entire contest by picking wickets in regular intervals, eventually defeating Sri Lanka by 91 runs to clinch the series 2-1.
