The flamboyant batter Suryakumar Yadav is in the form of his life. With his brilliant unbeaten knock of 50 runs in 33 balls against South Africa in the first T20I of the series, the right-handed batter improved his ICC ranking and currently is the second-best batter on the list. South African all-rounder Wayne Parnell understands the kind of impact he can create in a match and thus, called him one of the best players in the T20 format.

Ahead of the second T20I at Guwahati, the 33-year-old also heaped praise on his ability to play shots anywhere on the ground. Slowly and steadily, he is gaining the title of Mr. 360 and that’s why he is considered to be such a dangerous player in the shortest format of the game.

“I think personally, from what I've watched over the last couple of months, I think he is probably one of the best T20 batters at the moment,” Parnell told reporters ahead of the second match of the series.

“He scores 360, which is very difficult for bowlers to try and defend. I think it's just about being strong and trying to take each ball as it sort of comes. You know, he's allowed to play good shots. I think the other night, he played some really, really beautiful shots, but it was a lucky day. And maybe, you know, a different night that goes to hand. But having said that, I think you know, he's certainly been a guy that I've really enjoyed watching over the last couple of months. He's certainly playing really good cricket,” he added.

Our batters are world-class, nothing to panic about: Wayne Parnell

The Proteas were choked by the Indian bowlers in the previous match. Deepak Chahar and Arshdeep Singh looked ruthless as South Africa lost five wickets on nine runs at the onset. After Markram’s dismissal, Parnell along with Keshav Maharaj took charge and helped the team cross the 100-run barrier.

Even after a poor outing in the last match, Parnell believes that there’s nothing to worry about at the moment. Backing the batters, the all-rounder spoke about how things can turn around on a new venue.

“I mean, the first T20 didn't go according to plan. But obviously, you know, a new venue sometimes lets you not think about things that went wrong in the first game. Our batters are world-class. So it's not something for us to panic about,” Parnell said in the press conference.
