Sussex all-rounder Tom Clark has signed a new one-year extension after having an excellent start to the 2026 domestic season. The 25-year-old will therefore stay on the south coast until at least the end of the 2027 season.
Clark has had an excellent time representing the Sharks in both the County Championship and the T20 Blast. The left-handed batter has scored 376 runs from six matches at an average of 31.33. He has one century to his name this season, hitting 101 against newly-promoted Leicestershire in the opening game of the season.
Clark's white-ball form has also been solid before his injury ruled him out of the remainder of the T20 Blast 2026. He scored 122 runs from three matches at an astonishing strike-rate of 259.57 whilst averaging close to 41. His best knock came against Kent at Canterbury, when he hit a 29-ball 79, striking at 272.41.
I’m delighted to sign an extension at Sussex, a place I’m proud to call my home. We have a special dressing room full of great players, coaches and people who I love working with. It is clearly not an easy time for the club and I’ve had to think very carefully about my future. It has become clear to me that I want to show my commitment to the club, dressing room and members with a strong hope that these off field matters can improve as quickly as possible and we can fulfill the promise that I know this special group and great club can achieve. Assuming this is the case and the position is recovered, there is no reason why I can’t commit my future at Sussex beyond next year," Tom Clark said via Sussex's website.
Clark signing an extension is significant amid Sussex's financial troubles. The Sharks recorded losses of GBP 1.3 million earlier this year, which resulted in them getting a points deduction in all three domestic competitions ahead of the 2026 season.
