India registered their third win in the Super 12 stage of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 against Bangladesh on Wednesday, November 02. Bangladesh were on the cusp of chasing the competitive total of 151 in 16 overs but the Men in Blue bowlers made their life difficult by picking up wickets swiftly.

In the midst of the second innings, showers began to pour down at the Adelaide Oval and the matched had to be halted. Just prior to the halt in the match, Bangladesh’s openers constructed a fantastic partnership that handed India a minor scare. However, the side were not the same after returning to the pitch following the resumption of the game and eventually lost out to the Men in Blue by 5 runs.

India strong contenders for semi-finals

Former Bangladesh cricketer Habibul Bashar believes the young side were ‘unable’ to handle the pressure against team India.

“After the break it was important that they maintain continuity. The match got shortened and Bangladesh had to start again. It was about 10 runs per over, a big ground, you know the bowler will come full at you. It’s a young team so they could not handle the pressure very well. But otherwise, I think they played well despite being a bit expensive with the ball, but with the bat they got their best start. They just missed the momentum and that cost the game for them,” said Habibul Bashar on 'BatBricks7 presents Run Ki Runneeti' show on CricTracker.

Following the win against Bangladesh, team India will be riding high on confidence as they are very close to grabbing the semi-finals berth. However, nothing is certain as of yet but Rohit Sharma and Co. will be favourites to win the fixture against Zimbabwe in their forthcoming match that will officially seal their berth in the last four of the marquee tournament down under.
