Team New Zealand  completed a thumping victory over Sri Lanka in a group-stage encounter of the T20 World Cup 2022 played in Sydney on Saturday. The Kiwi batter Glenn Phillips was outstanding with the bat as he completed a marvelous hundred. He was also adjudged player of the match for his excellent century.

Chasing 168 to win, Sri Lanka were completely bamboozled by the opening spells from senior pacers Trent Boult and Tim Southee. Boult scalped four wickets while Southee took one to completely break the bone of Sri Lanka's batting order. In the end, the Island nation lost the match by a huge margin of 65 runs.

Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer and expert Wasim Jaffer has rated Trent Boult and Tim Southee as one of the best pairs the cricketing world has ever seen. Jaffer emphasized the fact that both Boult and Southee are a terrific pair in the 20-over format, but they have proven their mettle in the other two formats as well.

Trent Boult and Tim Southee have been a fantastic pair: Wasim Jaffer

"Trent Boult and Tim Southee have been a fantastic pair, not only in just T20 but the Test and ODI format as well. We have seen James Anderson and Stuart Broad, but they don't play in ODIs or T20Is. But, to do in all three formats is outstanding," said Wasim Jaffer said on BatBricks7 presents 'Run ki Runneeti' on CricTracker.

"There have been some great names like Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis and Glenn McGrath and Jason Gilespie there are plenty of them, but in recent times in T20 cricket, I would say Tim Southee and Trent Boult are right up there among one of the best," he added.

Meanwhile, the Blackcaps will now take on England in their next group-stage encounter. Team New Zealand are currently unbeaten in the competition and will look to continue its winning momentum against the Three Lions.
