Former Pakistan cricketer Umar Gul has accused Shadab Khan of "faking" his injury against South Africa in the ongoing 2023 ODI World Cup in India. Pakistan all-rounder Shadab hit his head on the ground while trying to run out Quinton de Kock during South Africa's chase in Chennai on October 27. After some attention from the physiotherapist, Shadab walked off the field as a precaution for a concussion injury. However, seeing his injury, Gul had his doubts.
“We dont know what kind of injury he had, but several questions are raised. Questions are raised when you fall, make an excuse of a concussion, walk out, physio checks you, and after a while you talk to people on the sidelines, then go inside again,” Umar Gul said on a Pakistan news channel.

Pakistan’s World Cup dream in danger following continuous losses
Talking of Pakistan’s performances at the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023, the side has not been able to perform as expected in the tournament. Currently sitting in sixth place in the standings, Pakistan have four points in six games in the tournament. The Men in Green have faced South Africa, Afghanistan, Australia, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and the Netherlands.
However, they have only managed to register wins against Netherlands and Sri Lanka. Losing the four remaining games have put the Babar Azam-led side in a tough position and their qualification chances are in jeopardy.
For their next assignments, they will be going against Bangladesh at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Tuesday, October 31. It could be interesting to see whether Pakistan will be able to recover after their recent subpar showings.
