India Capitals defeated Gujarat Giants by 12 runs in an intriguing Eliminator clash in the Legends League Cricket (LLC) 2023 on Wednesday, December 6, in Surat. However, spotlight shifted rapidly from the game after Sreesanth, who was playing for Gujarat, put out a video where he criticised Capitals captain Gautam Gambhir for his on-field behaviour.

Sreesanth and Gambhir, who won the T20 World Cup in 2007 and the ODI World Cup in 2011 for India, were involved in a verbal spat during the first innings. The diminutive batter hit Sreesanth for a few boundaries and a few moments later, the bowler got pretty close to him and they exchanged words before other players and umpires intervened. After the game, when Gambhir was doing an interview, the Kerala pacer put out a video on social media saying that Gambhir had said some unpleasant things to him. In a separate video, Sreesanth claimed that Gambhir called him a "fixer" and verbally abused him repeatedly.

"I have not used a single bad word or used a single abusive word to him. I only said, "What are you saying? What are you saying?" In fact, I kept laughing in a sarcastic way because he kept calling me "Fixer, fixer, you are a fixer, F*** off fixer". This is the language that was used. When they were trying to control him, he kept on calling me fixer," Sreesanth said.

In the first video posted by Sreesanth on the incident, he mentioned that Gambhir doesn't respect his colleagues, including former opening partner Virender Sehwag. The 40-year-old also said that when Gambhir is asked about Virat Kohli during cricket shows, he dodges the topic.

The speedster's wife, Bhuvneshwari Sreesanth, commented on one of his Instagram posts and questioned Gambhir's upbringing.

"It is so shocking to hear from Sree that a player who has played for India with him for many years can stoop to this level. Even after so many years of retirement from active cricket. After all upbringing matters a lot and it shows up when these kind of behaviour comes up on ground. Shocking truly shocking," Bhuvneshwari wrote in her comment.
