Reports: Virat Kohli takes fitness test in England under BCCI's supervision

Former Indian captain Virat Kohli has reportedly completed his fitness assessment in England, becoming the first among the current crop of players to undergo the test on foreign soil. Kohli, last seen in action during IPL 2025, is expected to return to international cricket in October for the ODI series against Australia. His fitness test in England was conducted under the supervision of the BCCI, with reports suggesting that he had secured the board’s approval to take the assessment abroad.
While Kohli opted for England, other Indian players, including ODI captain Rohit Sharma, visited the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru to complete their fitness evaluations. Having already retired from Tests and T20Is, Kohli remains committed solely to the 50-over format, and his goal remains to play the ODI World Cup in 2027 before calling it quits from international cricket.
The report also mentions that Ravindra Jadeja, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, Akash Deep, and Nitish Kumar Reddy are scheduled to undergo their fitness assessments in September. Additionally, players who missed the first round due to injury or illness will also take the test alongside them, according to Dainik Jagran.
