Records were shattered during the fourth game of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 between South Africa and Sri Lanka on Saturday, October 07 at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. The South African batters put on a breathtaking display as they registered the highest team total in ODI World Cup history. Quinton de Kock (100 off 84), Rassie van der Dussen (108 off 110) and Aiden Markram (106 off 54) all scored hundreds as no Sri Lankan bowler was spared.
The right-arm seamer Matheesha Pathirana, who was making his World Cup debut even leaked 26 runs in the 43rd over as Markram took him to cleaners. Markram struck the second ball of the over for a four down the ground and Pathirana bowled four wides on the very next delivery.
