Salman Ali Agha's run-out in the second ODI between Bangladesh and Pakistan at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on Friday, March 13, has created massive controversy. Interestingly, it was Bangladesh captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz who affected the run-out.
The incident took place on the fourth ball of the 39th over after Bangladesh won the toss and opted to field first. Mehidy flat delivery on the stumps was nudged back to him by Mohammad Rizwan. The Bangladeshi all-rounder moved to his right and tried to stop the ball. However, Agha got in his path at the non-striker's end.
The two collided, but it was nothing serious. Agha bent down to pick up the ball and hand it back to Mehidy. However, the Bangladeshi cricketer got hold of the ball before Agha and underarmed it onto the stamps. Pakistan's T20I skipper was standing out of his crease at the time and failed to comprehend what had just happened.
Mehidy appealed immediately, and his fellow players joined in. Umpire Tanvir Ahmed sent it upstairs to the third umpire Kumar Dharmasena for a check. The Sri Lankan umpire saw Agha standing out of his crease when the bails came off and deemed him out.
Agha got into a war of words with Mehidy as soon as the on-field umpire sent it upstairs. After he was given out, Agha marched off the field, venting his anger with some choice words. He threw away his helmet and gloves as he exited the field of play.
Mehidy seemed to have gotten involved in a heated discussion with the other umpire, Adrian Holdstock, before Najmul Hossain Shanto came in and diffused the situation.
Take a look at the dismissal below:
Agha's fluent innings ended on 64 off 62 balls. He had hit seven fours and two sixes during his stay at the crease during a 109-run partnership with Rizwan. Pakistan lost wickets one after the other after Agha's dismissal and eventually slumped to 274 from a strong position of 231/3.

While talking about Agha's dismissal, commentator Ramiz Raza said that what Mehidy did was within the laws of the game, but it wasn't a great advertisement of sportsmanship in the game.
