Nitish Rana was spotted losing his cool with one of the on-field umpires during Match 10 of the 2025 edition of the Delhi Premier League between Purani Dilli 6 and West Delhi Lions at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Nitish, who is leading the Lions, was captured losing his cool while fielding.

The Lions skipper looked quite disappointed and did not hesitate to express his views to the umpire. The reason for the same is unknown at the time of writing. As per the video evidence, Nitish was seen trying to persuade the umpire into resolving an issue. The umpire tried explaining his side of the story to Nitish. However, the latter did not quite get convinced.

A snippet of the same clip was posted by the official social media handles of the DPL across all channels. The video has been garnering a lot of traction. The on air commentators also seemed to be confused as to what the possible reason behind the tense argument was.

Nitish did not really pursue the argument further and got back to his fielding position after a few minutes. This was not the first time he was seen leading with passion.

West Delhi Lions ended up losing the game by 15 runs. Nitish bowled just the sole over in the first innings. He conceded only five runs. The 31-year-old did not quite impress with the bat, though. He scored only 15 off 14 balls. Ayush Doseja's scintillating 54-ball 101 went in vain as the Lions lost their first match of the campaign.

The left-handed middle-order batter has previously captained Delhi in domestic cricket and Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2023 instalment of the Indian Premier League. In 2025, he moved to Rajasthan Royals, and had a subpar season with the bat. He was injured midway through the season. It will be interesting to see if RR retain him ahead of the 2026 season, as the franchise also seems to be parting ways with their star player Sanju Samson.
