The right-arm pacer Akash Deep added a fiery moment late on Day 3 by dispatching a loose delivery from Jofra Archer for a six. He came in after the dismissal of Ravindra Jadeja, who crafted a composed 72 off 131 balls, and made an immediate impact.

Archer strayed onto the pads on the first ball of the 116th over, and Deep flicked it confidently over deep backward square leg, where the fielder was close to the rope, where the ball sailed comfortably over for a massive six that resulted in crucial runs for the Indian side.

The third day of the Lord's Test began on a strong note, with KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant stitching a 141-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Pant scored 74 off 112 balls before falling to a brilliant run-out by England skipper Ben Stokes just before lunch. After the break, Rahul notched up his 10th Test century, his second at Lord’s, but was dismissed shortly after, edging a flighted delivery from Shoaib Bashir to Harry Brook at first slip.

Gill & Co. found themselves under pressure, but Jadeja and Nitish Kumar Reddy steadied the innings with a 72-run stand for the sixth wicket off 165 deliveries. Reddy contributed a gritty 30 off 91 balls. Jadeja later built another 50-run partnership with Washington Sundar for the seventh wicket, which provided further resistance for the visitors, as they levelled the scores, getting bundled out for 387.

Earlier, England posted 387 in their first innings, led by Joe Root’s 104, Jamie Smith’s 51, and Brydon Carse’s 56. Jasprit Bumrah led India’s bowling charge with a five-wicket haul, dismantling the stumps four times and finishing with figures of 5/74. With 47 wickets in England, Bumrah became the second-highest Indian wicket-taker in the country, just one behind Ishant Sharma’s 48.

The Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy is evenly poised at 1-1, with England winning the opening Test at Headingley and India bouncing back with a historic victory at Edgbaston, powered by Shubman Gill’s exceptional tally of 430 runs across both innings. The third Test at Lord’s has shaped up to be a nail-biter, with both teams eager to take the lead in the series.
