Jofra Archer was off to a sensational start on his Test comeback in more than four years as he dismissed Yashasvi Jaiswal on the third ball of his first over on Day 2 of the second Test of the ongoing five-match series between England and India. Jaiswal had to walk back to the shed for a 13-run score off eight balls.
The 143 kph (89 mph) delivery was delivered on a perfect length, which squared the left-handed batter up completely, as he seemed clueless. The rest of the job was completed by Harry Brook at second slip. Archer was understandably elated with the dismissal and was off towards square leg celebrating while soaking in the moment. The crowd at Lord's was on its feet to celebrate his first wicket on a Test comeback.

Jaiswal was the first wicket to fall for the visitors. It was a rare failure for him against England. However, that particular moment was all about Archer. He has not been a feature of the red-ball unit due to recurring elbow and back injuries, which have restricted him to a white-ball diet in the past. The previous appearance Archer made in the format was in February 2021 against India.
His outing with the bat was not all that memorable, though. Coming in at No. 10, he was beaten by a delivery which jagged back in from Jasprit Bumrah to end up crashing into the stumps. Archer was Bumrah's fifth of the innings. The Ben Stokes-led unit were bowled out for 387 in 112.3 overs. Joe Root (104 off 199) top-scored for the hosts. This particular ton was his 11th in Tests against India.

Jamie Smith (51 off 56) and Brydon Carse (56 off 83) scored vital half-centuries. Their 84-run stand for the eighth wicket was one of the main reasons that England ended up getting to a sizeable total in their first innings, getting bundled out with 387 runs on the board.
In the rest of the innings on the second day, Jaiswal's opening partner KL Rahul (53*) was the highlight of the day for the Indian side. His unbeaten half-century has taken India past to 150-plus at the time of Stumps. He will resume the innings alongside vice-captain Rishabh Pant (19*) and take the score forward from 145-3.
