Tempers flared yet again in the Lord's Test as the action got all the more intense between the two behemoths of international cricket. Veteran Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and in-form England seamer Brydon Carse were in the spotlight in the riveting first session on Day 5 at the Home of Cricket.
The incident happened after the last ball of the 35th over, which was bowled by Brydon Carse. The right-arm seamer bowled a short of length delivery on the off-stump and Jadeja rode the bounce to guide it behind square on the off-side. While taking the first run, Jadeja was focusing on the fielder's actions and by the time he looked towards where he was running, he had no option but to barge into Carse.
Jadeja was quick enough to come back for the second run despite the collision. However, Carse gave him a mouthful, and the Saurashtra all-rounder didn't hold back. Jadeja walked towards Carse, and the two players got into a war of words. However, England captain Ben Stokes placed himself between the two players to avoid any possibility of further escalation. Umpire Sharfuddoula was also keeping a close track on the incident.

Nitish Kumar Reddy joined forces with Jadeja and the duo added a 30-run stand off 91 deliveries, batting with a lot of grit and determination. However, on the stroke of Lunch, Reddy was sent packing by Chris Woakes. At Lunch on Day 5, India find themselves at 112/8, needing another 81 runs for a win. All hopes rest on Jadeja, who is batting on 17.
