England skipper Ben Stokes drove a full delivery from Prasidh Krishna down the ground on Day 5 of the second Test at Edgbaston. The ball seemed set for the boundary, but Mohammed Siraj put in a stunning diving effort, crashing into a pile of sawdust to stop it, saving crucial runs for his team.
The ball ricocheted off Siraj's body, as Indian captain Shubman Gill collected the ball closer to the boundary ropes, as the batters could only run two, which seemed as a sureshot four, had the ace pacer not put in the dive. The amount of dedication Siraj showed even when India have little fear of losing the game, shows the amount of efforts he puts into the game, whether with the ball in his hands or while fielding.

Speaking of the game, England are set a humongous target of 608 runs, as the visiting side declared their second innings at 427/6 late on Day 4. Shubman Gill once again led from the front, scoring 161, while KL Rahul (55), Rishabh Pant (65), and Ravindra Jadeja (69*) made solid contributions as well. Josh Tongue and Shoaib Bashir picked up two wickets each for England.
Earlier, Goill & Co. posted a mammoth 587 in their first innings, with the skipper scoring a sensational 269. Yashasvi Jaiswal (87) and Jadeja (89) also chipped in with vital knocks. For England, Bashir was the pick of the bowlers, claiming three wickets.

At the close of Day 4, the Indian side had the upper hand, having reduced the hosts to three-wickets down with the dismissals of Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, and Joe Root. On the final day, after an hour’s delay due to rain and with 80 overs scheduled to be bowled, Deep continued to shine, removing the dangerous Brook and Ollie Pope to further tighten India’s grip on the match. The last time before this Test that England lost their first five wickets for under 100 runs in both innings of a home Test was against Australia at Headingley in 2009, when they collapsed to 5/63 and 5/78.
