After an enthralling five-day cricketing action, the fourth Test between England and India at the Old Trafford, Manchester ended in a draw. As a customary tradition, all players were supposed to shake hands after calling the end of play and walk off to their respective dressing rooms. However, England captain blatantly ignored the Indian batters at the crease, as Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar both forwarded their hands for showing respect.

The moment caused instant outrage and fans and expert alike questioned the move by The Three Lions skipper, raising questions on the spirit of cricket, which the Englishmen themselves keep hyping about every time a decision goes against their favour. The clip of the incident went viral on social media, as something like this coming from a host team's captain was disappointing to say the least.

At the post-match presentation, however, Stokes appreciated the way the Indian duo put up a solid 203-run partnership for the fifth wicket that not only put India out of trouble, but also saved the side from losing the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025. The series is currently poised at 1-2 in favour of England, with another game to go at The Oval, starting July 31.

"As the game progressed, the wicket sort of became easier to bat on. There was variable bounce for the right-handers, but not much for the left-handers. Heap load of credit to the way Washington [Sundar] and [Ravindra] Jadeja played there," Stokes said.
