England made an early impact on Day 5 of the ongoing third Test at the Lord's by dismissing Washington Sundar, courtesy of a pacer Jofra Archer’s stunning caught & bowled. The game, which was looking balanced at stumps on Day 4, saw the hosts make early progress on the final morning, removing three important wickets, including Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, and Sundar, in India's pursuit of 193.
At the start of the day, India began on 58/4, needing 135 more runs to win with six wickets in hand. Rahul, unbeaten on 33 overnight, was India’s biggest hope. However, England's pace attack ran through India's middle-order. Archer began the day by removing Pant, uprooting his off-stump. All-rounder Sundar was the Archer's next victim, walking back for a duck after facing just four balls.
Archer bowled a full delivery, angling into Sundar’s pads. The southpaw tried to flick it through mid-wicket but closed the face of the bat early, with the ball taking a leading edge, and the speedster in his follow-through dived to his right to complete a one-handed stunner. Notably, Sundar's wicket came just an over after Rahul had been sent back by a peach from Ben Stokes. With three wickets falling in quick succession, India are now in a difficult position.

Now, with the last dependable pair of Ravindra Jadeja and Nitish Kumar Reddy at the crease, the visiting team needs 99 more runs. Jadeja has already had a brilliant outing in the first innings with a 72, while Nitish is expected to support his partner. At the time of writing, India's score stands at 97/7, with 96 runs more required.
Meanwhile, after stumps on Day 4, Sundar had revealed that India would go on to win the Test match from the position they are in. But with England picking three quick wickets, the chances of the match going towards the home team's favour look more possible.
