England beat Australia in the second T20I of the ongoing three-match series at Manuka Oval in Canberra on Wednesday, October 12, to take an unassailable lead as they emerged victorious by eight runs once again.

The Aussies fell short yet again while chasing as Sam Curran made life tough for the hosts in the death overs. Moreover, the Australian top-order collapsed while chasing the 179-run target set by England in their 20 overs.

The match turned out to be quite an exciting affair as England posted 178 on the board batting first while riding high on Dawid Malan's 49-ball 82. Whereas Australia nearly crossed the line to level the series but fell agonisingly short at the end.

During the match, England all-rounder Ben Stokes pulled off a sensational boundary save that changed the complexion of the game.

Ben Stokes pulls off sensational save

Mitchell Marsh hammered an aerial hit down the ground off Curran on the first delivery of the 12th over but Stokes showcased a super athletic effort to deny Marsh a maximum. Marsh nearly dispatched Curran’s delivery over his head with fans anticipating the ball to go for a maximum. However, Ben Stokes had other ideas as he nearly claimed a jaw-dropping catch.

Stokes jumped off the ground near the boundary ropes, caught the ball and pushed it inside the field, with his feet still in the air. It reduced Marsh to only take a couple of runs. Stokes is known to be one of the best fielders in the world and has pulled off many miraculous saves previously.

Despite losing their top-order early, Australia were still in the game till the 17th over as Tim David was blazing the bowlers away all around the park. However, Curran eventually helped clean up David round his legs in the 18th over and put curtains on the chances of Australia levelling the series.
