Ace Indian batter Virat Kohli's ton elicited an animated reaction from former Indian skipper Rohit Sharma. The former brought up his 52nd ODI century in Ranchi on November 30 in the series-opening ODI against South Africa. Rohit was seen clapping in the dugout in sheer delight. While doing so, he also let out a few expletives in a bid to cheer his teammate.

Kohli was finally dismissed for 135 off 120 when he attempted to flat-bat a back-of-length delivery around the fifth stump channel which popped up high in the air. The ball was brilliantly held by Ryan Rickelton, who took a commedable running catch. The entire crowd at the JSCA International Stadium Complex was up on their feet as Kohli walked back to the pavilion.

As for the match, the Men in Blue were asked to bat after Aiden Makram won the toss and opted to field first. Ruturaj Gaikwad was brought into the mix and Tilak Varma was left out. Kohli came out to bat after Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed early on in the piece. He put on a 109-ball 136-run stand for the second wicket with Rohit before the latter was trapped in front by a Marco Jansen in the 22nd over.

India will be keen to get off to a positive start in the 50-over leg of the all-format series as they were recently defeated by the Proteas in the two-match Test series. The three ODIs will be followed by five 20-over matches. The next two ODIs will be played in Raipur (December 3) and Visakhapatnam (December 6).
