The team, which was revealed ahead of the Challenger between the Sixers and the Scorchers, constituted the edition's top four leading run-getters. Beth Mooney made her appearance in the WBBL Team of the Tournament for an astonishing ninth instance. Ellyse Perry and Sophie Devine were appearing in the shortlist for the seventh time.

The middle-order constitutes of Ashleigh Gardner, Georgia Wareham and Heather Graham, all of who were instrumental with the ball while also chipping in with the bat on the majority of occasions. The squad gets completed with pacers Kim Garth and Shabnim Ismail as well as spinner Sophie Day. The Thunder's skipper Phoebe Litchfield was the 12th player.

Garth and Ismail made their debut appearance in a WBBL Team of the Tournament. Cricket Australia’s Executive General Manager of the Big Bash Leagues Alistair Dobson congratulated the two and also noted the consistency of Mooney, Perry and Devine in the WBBL and ended by crediting Wareham for her all-round effort.

"This year’s Team of the Tournament features a blend of domestic and overseas talent and it’s great to see two fresh faces in Kim Garth and Shabnim Ismail. It’s no surprise to see the likes of Beth Mooney, Ellyse Perry and Sophie Devine in the side yet again. They are three of the all-time greats and their ability to perform on the big stage consistently is a true testament to the way they approach the game. Georgia Wareham had a sensational tournament with bat and ball and is a deserved first-time captain having led the Renegades impressively in the absence of Sophie Molineux," stated Dobson, as quoted by cricket.com.au.
