Arch rivals India and Pakistan locked horns in the first match of their Super 12 campaign in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. The match quite literally had everything in store for cricket lovers - the drama, suspense, intense moments, excitement, thrills and whatnot.

Rohit Sharma-led India were on the brink of losing the game, but coming from behind, it was Virat Kohli’s and Hardik Pandya’s 113-run stand that changed the complexion of the game. Kohli then single-handedly began dictating the match, scoring an unbeaten knock of 82 runs off just 53 balls to guide the Men in Blue to a thrilling victory.

The sensational knock did not only get appreciation from the fans but also members of the cricketing fraternity. Australia all-rounder Mitchell Marsh lauded the clash in a press conference ahead of the match against Sri Lanka.

"I actually think we should just stop the World Cup there. Um, if it gets any better than that, we're in for an amazing three weeks. India v Pakistan is always an incredible game to watch. I can't imagine what it would be like to have been in that crowd and to be a part of it," the all-rounder said.

"But yeah. Amazing. Virat Kohli has been through a indifferent 12 months when you think about his career. And for him to do that, um, you know, put his mark on the World Cup and it was an incredible innings to watch, an incredible game. So hopefully there's a few more of those,” said an elated Marsh.

Australia square off against Sri Lanka in their quest to keep their semi-final hopes alive as they defend their title. The Aussies need to get a win due to their damaged net run rate following the loss against New Zealand.
