West Indies are set to host Australia in a three-match Test series, starting on June 25. The first game is scheduled to be held at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados. Meanwhile, the second Test will be held at the National Cricket Stadium in St George's, Grenada. The series will conclude with the third and final match at the historic Sabina Park in Kingston, Jamaica.

The coveted Sir Frank Worrell Trophy will be on the line during the Test series. The West Indies will be led by Roston Chase, while Jomel Warrican will serve as his deputy, in what marks as a commencement to a new leadership era for the Caribbeans.

CWI Director of Cricket, Miles Bascombe said that selections were made in line with the team’s commitment to building a bold, execution-driven identity in Test cricket, with "consistency in batting output" and a "dynamic bowling attack" being key in the overall assessment.

Meanwhile, head coach Daren Sammy said that the West Indies management has analysed what the best teams in world cricket are doing to achieve results. He mentioned that the idea is to bridge the gap with the top teams by identifying the areas that need improvements.

“We analysed what the top teams in the world are doing and what is needed for us to bridge the gap. We have identified a direction, along with the group of players and resources to give us the best advantage as we seek to take the team up ladder and challenge the best in the world," Sammy told in an official CWI statement.

The former West Indies captain also spoke about the inclusion of the talented youngster, Kevlon Anderson, who has done well in domestic cricket at the top of the order. Sammy also welcomed the return of Shai Hope, who is their white-ball skipper. The former captain is also excited to see how Brandon King performs in the red-ball circuit.

“I’m excited about the inclusion of young prospect Kevlon Anderson, who comes in after solid seasons in our domestic competitions to help provide stability in the top order, while the return of Shai Hope is welcomed given his consistency in white ball cricket. Brandon King’s inclusion fits a role we have identified that needs special focus to take our team to those closer to the top of the rankings," he added.

Sammy urged the Caribbean fans to show some patience and assured them that they will witness their favourite team playing in a new style during the series.

“I am truly looking forward to this series because we want to start off strongly and make our home turf a fortress during this cycle, while having our passionate and proud fans behind us. The matches will be challenging, but I believe in this core of players, and they are eager to wear the maroon and make our fans happy.”
