India cricketer Abhinav Mukund has expressed his thoughts on Australia star cricketer Alyssa Healy being purchased by UP Warriorz for just INR 70 lakhs at the inaugural Women's Premier League auction which was conducted on February 13 at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai.

The auction saw some great tussle between the five franchises namely Mumbai Indians, Gujarat Giants, UP Warriorz, Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore. All the five franchises bagged some great talent at the eagerly anticipated auction and UP Warriorz were one of them.

Best bargain: Abhinav Mukund appreciates UP Warriorz WPL strategy

"They have got a fantastic side. I would think getting Alyssa Healy at 70 lakhs is the steal of this auction. Considering the amount of money that a lot of the Indian players went for, getting Tahlia McGrath at 1.4 crores and Alyssa Healy at 70 lakhs, I think they have done a really, really good job with their overseas," the 33-year-old Tamil Nadu batter said in a discussion on Sports18.

Mukund seemed to be very satisfied with the way the UP Warriorz performed at the inaugural Women's Premier League auction. In fact, he went up to the extent of even stating that among all the five inaugural WPL franchises, the UP Warriorz were the standout performers.

What made him state the same was primarily their strategy. Mukund explained that UP Warriorz's strategy was what impressed him the most and on papers, atleast the franchise definitely has all the means to create on of the most dangerous sides of the WPL during the tournament.

He further stated that UP Warriorz got some really valuable picks and didn't overspend too much, and also have multiple suitable backups as choices whenever they have to pick a quality playing XI to take the field.

"I felt apart from the first three picks (Ecclestone, Deepti Sharma and McGrath), they didn't overspend too much. I thought, for a new franchise, they had a better auction than the Gujarat Giants," he stated.
