India won the second semi-final of the Women's World Cup 2025, defeating Australia by five wickets and nine deliveries to spare at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai on Thursday, October 30. India will play their third final of the Women's World Cup in their cricketing history as they will take on South Africa on November 2 at the same venue.

Speaking of the second semi-final, Phoebe Litchfield (119 off 93) and Ellyse Perry (77 off 88) stitched a 155-run stand off only 133 balls for the second wicket before Ashleigh Gardner struck a brisk half-century (63 off 45). Top batting performance of the match — Jemimah Rodrigues

Jemimah's 127* was the third and most iconic ODI century of her career. This was also her highest score in the format. Jemimah ensured that the asking rate never creeped up above a certain limit and proved to be the perfect foil for Harmanpreet to grow in confidence during her time in the middle.

Best bowling spell — Shree Charani

Charani bowled a total of 29 dot balls in her 10-over spell. Like she has earlier in the tournament, she never offered anything loose from her end. Her wickets of Beth Mooney (24 off 22) and Annabel Sutherland (3 off 6) proved to be instrumental in limiting Australia's scoring.

Records Broken and Major Milestones Achieved

  • Gardner became the first to aggregate 300-plus runs from No. 6 or lower in an edition of the Women’s ODI World Cup.
  • Australia’s 338 became the highest first-innings total against India in the Women's World Cup.
  • Jemimah and Harmanpreet forged the highest-ever partnership for India in the knockout phase of the Women's World Cup (167 off 156).
  • India's chase of 339 became the highest successful run-chase in women's ODIs.

Who was the Player of the Match?

As per her own admission at the post-match ceremony, Jemimah did not know until the last moment that she would bat at No. 3. She maintained composure all through her knock and ended up with one of the best knockout knocks in the second innings of a Women's World Cup fixture.
