India cricketer Washington Sundar has revealed that he has been working on honing his batting skills in order to become a truly successful all-rounder who can win games for India.

Team India are currently playing a 3-match T20I series against Team New Zealand and both teams will be locking horns in the 2nd T20I to be played on January 29, at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.

It's coming at the right time: Washington Sundar satisfied with his growth

“I have been working on it specifically in the last one year or so. I am so glad that it’s all coming at the right time and I am also sort of getting more information as I bat in such situations, especially in match scenarios." the 23-year-old said in a video uploaded by BCCI, ahead of the second T20I in Lucknow.

The left-handed bowling all-rounder admitted that he had been taking some serious batting lessons and practicing very hard to brush up his batting skills for the past one year. Expressing his pleasure, he stated that he was quite happy that the results were coming quite early to him.

Through such results, he could work harder to become a proper all-rounder for his team, someone who could win matches for India whenever needed, both with the bat as well as with the ball.

“The ultimate thing for me is to win games for India and that’s where I want to be and that’s what I am trying to achieve,” the all rounder added.

New Zealand have already gone 1-0 up into the series and the Men In Blue would have to win the 2nd T20I to level the series and drag it to a decider. Sundar talked about the mood in the camp regarding this situation as well.

“Definitely, it’s going to be exciting. It’s a do-or-die game for sure. But one thing about such games is, especially when we go to big tournaments, these kinds of emotions will definitely kick in. Whatever it takes for us to win these kind of games will definitely help us to win big games in big tournaments,” he concluded.
