Pat Cummins surpassed milestones in his brilliant spell of 6/28 against South Africa in the first innings of the WTC Final 2025 at the Lord's. The Australian skipper was at his best in the big match, as he ran through the South African batters on the second day of the WTC Final 2025 at the Home of Cricket.

Towards the end of Day 1, Cummins dismissed Wiaan Mulder with a terrific delivery. On Day 2, Cummins claimed 5 wickets, the first of which started with the dismissal of the skipper Temba Bavuma, who was involved in a 64-run partnership with David Bedingham for the 5th wicket. He then got rid of Marco Jansen in the same over with a caught and bowled dismissal.

Cummins took a brilliant DRS and overcame Kyle Verreyne to claim his 4th wicket of the innings. He followed it up with a brilliant delivery to send Bedingham back to the pavilion. Cummins claimed his sixth wicket of the innings by dismissing Kagiso Rabada to end SA's innings at 138.

Milestones achieved by Pat Cummins in WTC Final 2025

In his 18.1 overs, the right-arm pacer claimed 6/28, including six maidens. The captain indeed led from the front and surpassed some key milestones in the process. As soon as he got rid of Rabada, Pat Cummins breached the milestone of 300 Test wickets, most of which have come as a non-new-ball bowler.

His spell of 18.1-6-28-6 is the best by a bowler in an innings in the history of the WTC Finals. Additionally, Cummins joined the elite league of pacers to have a fifer at the home of cricket. To do it in the Ultimate Test was an incredible feat.

Cummins also became only the second bowler in 43 years to claim a fifer at Lord's as a skipper. Bob Willis, the former English pacer, was the skipper of his side when he claimed a fifer against India at the Home of Cricket. Cummins accomplished the feat in an even better way and now has the best bowling figures for a skipper at Lord's.
