Star cricketer Yashasvi Jaiswal has been understood to be hospitalized with acute gastroenteritis on Tuesday, December 16 a few hours after the 2025 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy clash between Mumbai and Rajasthan. The Super League match was being played at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.

The left-handed batter experienced cramps in his stomach during the match, which became more severe after the contest. Jaiswal was then taken to the Aditya Birla Hospital in Pimpri-Chinchwad, around 13 kilometres off the venue. At the hospital, the report revealed that the cricketer has been diagnosed with acute gastroenteritis.

The 23-year-old is said to have been administered IV medication and also went through ultrasound and CT scans. He was advised to take sufficient rest and continue his medication until told not to, as per a report from The Indian Express.

Coming to the match, Mumbai were successful in chasing Rajasthan's 217-run target to win the clash by three wickets and 11 deliveries to spare. Sarfaraz Khan (73 off 22) secured the Player of the Match award for a power-packed knock which comprised six fours and seven sixes. Jaiswal could score only 15 off 16. He was caught-and-bowled by Ashok Sharma on the final ball of the fourth over of the run-chase.

Ajinkya Rahane stood tall right till the end to guide Mumbai over the line with a brisk, unbeaten 41-ball 72. Manav Suthar's 3-23 in his four-over quota was not enough for Rajasthan, as they ended up losing all three of their Super League matches. Despite the win, Mumbai could not qualify for the final after having a net run-rate (NRR) relatively inferior to those of Haryana and Hyderabad.
