Rohit Sharma looked leaner, fitter, and had the same flair with the bat as he took on Australia in the recently-concluded three-match ODI series. With 202 runs across three innings, Rohit was adjudged the Player of the Series, an assignment where he also led a successful chase in the third ODI in Sydney with an unbeaten century.

Notably, Rohit had been spending time alongside Abhishek Nayar to work on his fitness ahead of the tour Down Under. While the results showed on the field, Nayar has revealed the amount of sacrifices and hard work that the veteran cricketer had to undergo in a bid to lose 11 kgs of weight from his 38-year-old body. Nayar further mentions that the next time Rohit plays, he will look even fitter, losing more of body fat.

“Three months of hard work, not eating his favourite food, training hard — maybe you will see a few more kilos down when we see him play next time,” Nayar revealed via JioHotstar.

When will Rohit Sharma play ODIs next?

The fans will have to wait a little over a month to watch Rohit Sharma in action once again, as India host South Africa for a multi-format series, starting November 14. However, the ODI leg of the tour will begin on November 30 with the first match in the city of Ranchi. The second and third ODIs will then be played on December 3 (Raipur) and December 6 (Visakhapatnam), respectively.

Following the series against the Proteas, Rohit is expected to feature for India in the series against New Zealand as well. The three-match series will begin in Vadodara on January 11, 2026, followed by the second encounter in Rajkot and the third one in Indore to conclude the series. The next wait is going to be the longest, as India will play the next ODI series against England in July 2026, in an away tour of the United Kingdom.
