'Your grit, determination and belief is mind boggling !!' - Anushka Sharma praises Virat Kohli's 'freak' innings

India won their T20 World Cup 2022 opening match against Pakistan in a thrilling clash at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Sunday (October 23). MCG came alive with excitement as both Asian giants gave their everything to treat fans with one of the most exciting T20I games ever played in T20 World Cup history. And once again, it was India's superstar Virat Kohli, who stunned the cricketing world with one of his best-ever knocks.

Pakistan were forced to bat after losing the toss at MCG but they managed to put a challenging target of 160 runs after the fifties from Shan Masood and Iftikhar Ahmed. India were always favourites to chase the target at a batting-friendly pitch at MCG but lost their openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul and in-from batter Suryakumar Yadav in powerplay overs.

But Kohli, playing at number three, stood firm at the other end and kept India's hopes alive till the end. He and Hardik Pandya formed a crucial 113-run partnership for the fifth wicket as India managed to chase 48 runs from last three overs. Kohli smashed a crucial six in the last over and remained unbeaten at 82 runs off 53 balls to win the match for India and the Player of the Match award.

Kohli's innings has taken the internet by storm but it was his wife, Anushka Sharma, who posted one of the best congratulatory posts for the former Indian captain. Anushka posted a picture of her husband and described his 82* knock as the best she has ever seen. She also revealed that she enjoyed Kohli's innings with her daughter by her side dancing and screaming wildly.

I have just watched the best match of my life I can say and although our daughter is too small to understand why her mother was dancing around and screaming wildly in the room, one day she will understand that her dad played his best innings that night which followed after a phase that was tough on him but he came out of it stronger and wiser than ever before! So proud of you !! Your strength is contagious and you my love, are LIMITLESS!!

Kohli also commented on her wife's post and thanked her for being her by side in every single moment. "Thank you my love for being by my side through everything every single moment. I feel so grateful and love you so much," Virat Kohli replied with a comment.
