India started Day 3 of the third Test at Lord's at 145/3, with KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant at the crease. The tourists were trailing England's first-innings score by 242 runs.
Pant hit two boundaries in the first over of the day, but England bowled well and forced the Indian pair to play conservatively. Ben Stokes opted for short-pitched bowling, targeting Pant's left shoulder, putting him under all sorts of trouble as he was struggling with an injured left index finger. The Three Lions put six fielders on the leg-side, hoping for the wicketkeeper-batter to hit one up in the air.
However, Pant, getting hit twice on his injured finger, battled with pain and struck a crucial 74 runs before being dismissed on the stroke of Lunch. This was the only wicket England took in the first session, which was totally dominated by India.
KL Rahul brought up his century in the second session and got out immediately after that. He made 100 off 177 balls, hitting 13 fours. Ravindra Jadeja hit another important half-century, registering vital partnerships with fellow all-rounders Nitish Kumar Reddy (30) and Washington Sundar (23). The Saurashtra cricketer made 72 off 131 balls before being strangled down the leg-side off Chris Woakes' bowling as Jamie Smith took a great catch.
The lower-order for India once again failed to deliver as Akash Deep and Jasprit Bumrah were dismissed for seven and 0, respectively. Washington was the last batter to be dismissed as he made 23 off 76 balls. India finished on 387 in 119.2 overs. They would be disappointed at not having taken at least a lead of about 30-40 runs.

Akash Deep smokes Jofra Archer for a maximum at Lord's
Woakes ended as the highest wicket-taker for England with figures of 3/84 in 27 overs. Meanwhile, Jofra Archer and Stokes bagged two wickets apiece. Shoaib Bashir injured himself while fielding in the second session and didn't bowl thereafter. His fitness will be a concern for the hosts.
England had to bat one over in the end, and it turned out to be an eventful affair. India tried their best to force in a second over but Zak Crawley didn't allow them to win the race against time. England finished on 2/0 at Stumps on Day 3.
