England Lions finished Day 3 of the first unofficial Test against India A at 527/7 in 124 overs at St Lawrence Ground in Canterbury on Sunday, June 1.
The home side started Day 3 at 237/2, with Tom Haines batting on 103 off 147 deliveries and Max Holden giving him company on a 61-ball 64. The latter completed his century off just 99 balls, hitting the India A bowlers for some delightful boundaries. Haines also hit some delectable boundaries as the overnight duo added 75 runs in 15 overs.
Mukesh Kumar came in to bowl a fine spell, picking up three wickets in four overs. Holden, James Rew, and Rehan Ahmed were the batters he dismissed. However, Haines and Dan Mousley dented India A's hopes of dismissing the England Lions' lower-order cheaply. They added a 93-run stand off 160 balls.
Haines was finally dismissed for a marathon innings of 171 off 279 balls by Shardul Thakur. The opening batter hit 19 fours in his innings.

Karun Nair slams gritty double hundred to mark strong return
Zaman Akhter joined forces with Mousley, and they combined nicely to amass a breathtaking 108-run stand off 148 balls. The India A bowlers toiled hard, but the surface did not offer them much assistance. However, no credit should be taken away from the England Lions' batters.
Abhimanyu Easwaran introduced Karun Nair to bowl the 124th over of the England Lions' innings. The 33-year-old picked up the wicket of Mousley, who departed after scoring a magnificent 113 off 157 balls. He hit 10 fours and a solitary six in his splendid knock. This turned out to be the last ball on Day 3.
Mukesh has been the pick of the India A bowlers so far, picking up three wickets at the expense of 75 runs in 21 overs, bowling five maidens. Anshul Kamboj, Thakur, Harsh Dubey, and Nair have chipped in with one wicket apiece. England Lions are just 30 runs away from India A's first-innings total.
